Papi is hurt and on the DL. I mean, Papi is really hurt. There’s a good chance that Papi needs surgery on his wrist and doesn’t play the rest of the season. That’s the only scenario under which the name Barry Bonds was going to make it into a blog post title on this site this season. And sure enough, that seems to be the scenario we are in.
But I’m going on record on saying there is no way Theo should sign Barry Bonds to help fill the void left by Papi. I’ll even take it a step further. If the sox sign Bonds, I’m turning my back on the 2008 Red Sox season.
As for what they should do to make up for Ortiz’s injury… more on that later.
