only problem is...cc is a free agent at the end of the year and he'll be looking for a long term high end deal...which the sox do not like to do..they are finally clearing out their one long high $ deal (manny) and i severely doubt they will plunk down 6 years and umm... say a minimum of 17mm per year for cc--esp with that gut...

i'd love to h ave him but they won't do that...

this is my view of the sox plan - they are pitching rich..which means they will not overpay for a starter from the outside...they will develop their aces from within ove rthe next 5-10 years...

so, if lester doesn't pan out..then try bucholtz..then master-ful...etc...they are confident that with dice and beckett under contract they can build the rest of the team out from within in that regard...so, they will pay $ for a hitter or two over the next few years...my bet would be they'll make a run a texeira...or however you say/spell his name...he'll cost quite a bit but he's a slugger and he's good enough to displace yuke..as much as that hurts me to say....also...if it ends up papi is on the way down now with injuries tex could slip into that role as well...

my guess is the sox will do nothing interesting at the deadline this year...instead, i'm hoping they slide masterson into relief when bucholtz comes back - he could be the guy who picks up where oki left off and it would allow us to keep his arm in the majors even though he is not allowed to pitch too many innings this year...so he gains experience and helps the ball club and doesn't throw his arm off...

btw, 'tek was quoted as saying that lester will be the best lefty in the game next season-that's a damn good rec...
